The western side of Foster St in Railton is going through some changes. Spiral topiary has been installed. Given that topiary is the theme of Railton it make sense that it has a major presence in the main street. This is now being developed. The nature strips will also go and be replaced by a coloured concrete.
I am hoping that the improved streetscape will help lift the profile of Railton with tourists and bring some much needed business development in the town.

Looks good and very pleasing. Well done Railton.
One of the trade-offs from concrete everywhere is the increased runoff into the stormwater system that then ends up out at sea.
There are unseen benefits that grassed areas have over paved areas. Increased retention levels of water in this drying landscape for one.
Something to consider is what is known as 'Water sensitive urban design'. It's slowly becoming accepted around Australia - Google will show some good examples.
It is the way of the future and needs to be embraced sooner than later.
